Format: XSL (Extreme Skirmish League)

Week 1 - USL play
Week 2 - SL play
Week 3 - USL play
Week 4 - USL play
etc etc

PLAY OFFS - Team with better record gets to choose what zone
CHAMP GAME - Duel in USL 1v1. Best of 3. Winning team of that duel will get to pick the USL or SL.

Each squad will play each other twice, once in USL and once in SL... It will all be under ONE LEAGUE... Same standings, same wins, a win in SL map is a win in the whole leage... same with USL...

What do you guys think? alternating between USL and SL .... (no snipers in USL allowed anymore and yes snipers allowed in SL)... Won't this add some spark to the league? If we just alternate?...

I know the next question, "How do we work stats in and ratings?" ... I personally dont know how to answer that.

The kind of logistics required to do this wouldn't be worth the effort given the current population. We have like 3 people taking on the load of referee right now. SL games can end up being longer than USL games and that can cause scheduling conflicts. Not enough people want to help ref right now.

On top of that the stats/standings issue is something that would require an entire overhaul of the website to incorporate and I don't know about you but I'm not very interested in doing that.

We've tried to do SL mini seasons before and there was very little interest to begin with. After the 2nd week there were forfeits or games being played with uneven numbers.

It's a good idea in theory but probably something that won't work right now.

Only effort really would be on your end, I get that you wouldn't want to do the stats/site, but I mean maybe only stats that could be taken are w/l and k/d/a we don't really need to worry about playseconds/flags stats etc. I would ref too, as it would be more interesting and less work for a referee.

First SL was pretty decent, but the second one failed miserably. But then again, it was also draft league which will never be as interesting as a real league. Then ontop of that USL was starting up (game was more popular then) and everyone was making squads in USL and that was everyones focus. If there was no option of USL and only SL it might spark more interest. No idea though. Could poll the boys to find out.

It's not just the website either. The SL zone is not configured to take stats the same way USL is right now.

Ive always been a bigger fan of SL than USL however as it stands now some modifications could be made to the game play to support the current ref predicament.

Instead of the standard BO3 replace it with a single match but possibly make it so instead of 3 deaths you get 5 to spice it up a bit? Idk just thinking.

Id love to see a resurgence of SL, USL has in my opinion always been the inferior league but people select it because it takes less strategy. SL would give lower tier squads a chance to win by focusing objectives like the flags.

And before someone says "I'll ref yadda yadda" We've been asking for more people to step up for the last few seasons and the same shallow voices say they will but never step up so it's always been the same 3-4 people reffing.

And unless there is legitimate outpouring support to change over to SL there is no point for chris to start putting in work he doesnt necessarily want to do, nor should we try and corner him into doing so.

As for the stats I have no issue in taking manual stats until that were to be fixed, yes it creates room for human error but at least until it would be configured to do so.

Not that, it's the actual stat headers and their placements.

When the server takes the stats currently it only takes specific stats that are put into the website like kills, deaths, points, assist points, etc.. and in a specific order that a parser will accept.

SL headers are different and that's why taking manual stats from USL is still a pain in the ass because it doesn't include class into it like the automatic stats do.

Well if there is enough people supporting the change over to SL i say take this coming off season to have mizz or jovan or whomever to configure the SL head properly, continue on with USL for next season then hopefully by then everything can be fixed, that way we arent rushing to change over to a half finished product.

edit: i dont know how long it takes to do any of that nor would I all of a sudden try and push it on either of the mentioned names to put them in a time crunch.

I think Snipers should only be in SL, why do you think they had Scout's in USL. another thing. I think USL should just go back to old style. 2 meds, 1 lmg, 1 ripper, sapper, nader, rest marines. not everyone going support class

Eagle1Fox2 is coming back to request Scout be added to USL. He is going to ask Fausto every day until he gives in and adds it without making a poll or asking the community.
