so currently two forfeits from a squad during a regular season disqualify them from the season and removes them which additionally makes the captain unable to create squads.
due to the massive performance difference i say we lift the limit to the amount of games one can forfeit and stay in the season. otherwise i see no obligation to provide free stats to vastly superior squads and simply stop playing.

so you want to forfeit all the hard games and play all the easy ones?

i don't think you realize some squads on here have never had an 'easy' match.

Everyone wants to log on to play yeah if its going to be a statpad best thing to do is setup somewhere and make them come to you. In situations like this some squads have hid in buildings sometimes for extended periods of time. No need to run in and always look for them some squads usually go for low scoring games just in case they need to catch up its easier to be down 8-14 instead of 30+.

He pretty much told you to adapt as a captain and control the game speed, I figured you would know that already.

I’ve actually been on both sides of the spectrum from a captain/leader perspective.
When I first came to USL I ran a squad of CTFPL players who knew very little about the zone. We were vastly out powered by almost every squad. We got blown out at times, but we also started to learn how to give ourselves the best opportunity to win (very rarely happened with success).
After a couple of seasons and changes to the roster I ran a squad that was easily the most “stacked” roster of the league. We blew through the regular season undefeated. We ended up blowing it in playoffs to a legandary team, but we were the favorites. We played like it too.
It is unfortunate when you’re under talented, but if you care enough then work on what you’re bad at and put yourself in the best positions to win. Be disciplined.
Don’t look to the league to make you competitive. Make yourself competitive.

The real problem is the noobs always play with the noobs and bad vets, and good vets play with good vets.
If you notice when a noob with potential starts playing with semi-competent players they get pretty decent pretty quickly (see sv/nos/torch/etc...) but noobs who stay playing with other baddies never get good because nobody teaches them how to play properly. It's a vicious cycle and I think that salary cap can really help that, because the top 3 squads will be forced to have some noobs in their starting line up and it brings more people into the realm of competent players.
Unfortunately as-is the system is setup to fail, it's like the wage gap in the US the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
Disclaimer: I'm not saying every noob that plays on a good squad will git gud, i'm just suggesting it's an easier road to being a decent player if you're playing with people who know what they're doing (surprise).

Idk how you’d value players to enforce a salary cap, but I like the idea. I would love to see a roadmap for new players to get a chance to play with good players/teams so they can take what they learn out into the league later on.
If that was the spirit of the initial conversation I get it and could support it. I would be down to help be a part of the conversation to put a proposal together.

Before the salary league everyone whined and complained for it, it was put in and then everyone whined and complained that it didn't work. Now people are whining and complaining to get it back.
I'm not coding all of that shit again.

Oh I never knew it was a thing. I was just thinking though... it’s s game and people usually log in to play with friends. Would suck to get forced to play with people you don’t like just because of skill gaps.

I think that’s part of it. I think the volatility of the off season is another as you see the squads being remade across the league every season. Salary cap helps disperse talent yes. I don’t think that the league should be the one that forces that to happen though. At some point you just need players that step up and take initiative to make squads themselves and disperse on their own accord.
What happens though is you have a couple really good squads that are heads and shoulders better. And players wanting to play with friends is always understandable. Again though it’s easier to ride together than build themselves so they stick together. You can’t blame them for enjoying playing together. I think there are probably only a few players that could make something to change the status quo. Ie Eric and Yosh or Champ splitting from Sov with say.. Fausto to make an 8th squad this season so we don’t have byes. Thing is they have to want to do that themselves. They should not be forced.
I think part of it is a comfort zone playing with each other and the lack of desire to branch on their own. Why leave something easy to do something more difficult. Rather than 2 elite squads you’d have 4 really good ones matches would be more competitive. But to each their own... I can’t fault them for wanting to play with friends and with everyone being older now life makes it harder to commit the time they need to make a squad. At some point it boils down to whether they want to just ride Sov for boring stat pads and rings or show they can do things for themselves.

Jordan basically explained how this game has been going the past how many years to the T. Every now and then you see a few new players join the league but you hardly see any of them stay. I don't blame them, week after week they have no chance at winning, get blown out by 80+ kills. No offense to out of nowhere but it's pointless having them play a squad like take yer beating, just not fun to watch. And don't give me this bullshit that you like to play with friends lol you guys spend more time together than I do with my woman, it's mainly about e-rings and padding stats excluding some players. In all seriousness though, I don't know about you guys but I'd like to see this league continue to grow. Add some sort of handicap for the bottom squads, let them pick which map and side they want ect ect. Make it more enjoyable for new players.

Again I think it comes to iniative and want to. Forcing splits isn’t really the answer. I just think they are a lot of followers and are too afraid to be leaders without having a roster full of good players with them. Everyone enjoys winning sure but I can’t see how it’s more fun to play on squads like that rather than create their own squads and see what they can build on their own.

The problem is it's an old ass game with under 100 players... so you can't force people to play in shit squads or with people they don't like. Just like draft league people would rather just not play. I mean imagine getting drafted to a squad with tacostsnd in the starting lineup? Guarantee you'd lose interest very quickly

This exact same conversation about stacked teams dominating every league season was the downfall of any new players getting into ctfpl years ago and its eventual demise. Looks like usl headin' down that same road good luck boys.

We're not headed down that direction, we've been on that road since SOE. There really isn't much you can do without dumbing down the game to accommodate people who can't improve. Competition is the heart of Infantry and u can't force people to play with shit players, it's just not fun. The real problem we have is the low number of players that still play. Back in SOE there were at least 4-5 squads in contention every season to win USL, but that was mainly attributed to the number of high level players that still played the game. It's just not gonna be like that any more.
There have been squads who have taken in newer players and helped them grow, but it's on the newer player to want to take serious criticism and correct their mistakes. The reality is most players don't wanna do that and instead want the league to be handicapped to their favor. The best case scenario is if each squad takes in 1-2 noobs and lets them sb during the week to gain experience. I remember Sov's squad did that with n0b kilza, Bronzie Bears did that with Jarry, Rejects did that with Dave, etc.
