It's a New Tank. Upgraded and Improved or Destined for Decommission - We'll Find Out This Season
Coming into Week 6 of USL Season 2, Tank was the league's golden child having remained undefeated to that point in the season. Then a meeting with the monster that was SFO brought them plummeting back to earth, and stampeded over the squad's surging momentum. Going into the playoffs and during practices we saw sparks of the old Tank, but they never really seemed to regain their footing, and there were whispers of internal conflict amongst key players. When their last hurrah in the league quarterfinals against SFO ended as a close defeat in a valiant effort, the wheels came off the bus, and the Tank broke down.
And we've seen lots of movement during the offseason in the house of TANK.
Start with the bad. Tank lost half their lineup, and quality players to boot. Prisoner, Yosh and Y were all solid marines, and really contributed to both the heavy focus fire and the smart, aggressive pushing that wins squad's games during crucial battles. If that weren't enough, they lost bronco, a largely unsung and very capable medic, to the forces of Juggernaut over at Worms.
But for Tank thankfully the story doesn't end there.
To fill the loss of quality marines they picked up Unborn, Ice, Dave and District, each of whom have their moments and have been known to make plays that break battles wide open. The question here is consistency. The talent is there, but those three of those guys are going to need to show up ready to play each week if Tank is going to be successful. They also picked up Extreme (1), a great all-around marine, who I think will be a worthy addition to the squad and will play well beside Killer. To fill the medic gap they recruited Kiediss, and I don't mind saying - I think they traded up here. Kiediss in my view is a top 5 medic.
Add that those additions to the existing core of Albert, King, Jane, Killer and Pam and you've got a solid squad of possible contenders. But they will have to remain offensively consistent and alive, and both could prove problematic.

Killer: 95
I will tell you 1000x, Killer is one of the best players in this game. Half the time he is screwing around, and the other half he will absolutely annihilate you. Screw with him at your peril.

Solid All-Around Marine. If you could clone a whole team of him, I would med that team all the way to the Championship. He leads well, he communicates well, and plays well. The whole package.
King: 78
When I think of Tyrael I think of a Skirmish League ripper the my squad leader told me to mark before every SB. King used to strike fear in hearts with his deadly accuracy, but lately his aim has faltered somewhat. If we see a return of the old marksman this season he may be a piece that pushes Tank to the top.
District: 76
Quality Marine. Makes a push stronger with his aggressive play-style and vocal focus fire. His aggression does occasionally put him out of position and overcommitted running headlong into an ambush. But if you can rein him in, District will put up number pretty consistently. That makes him a valuable piece for Tank.
Ice: 75
If I could define a B+ marine, it would be Ice. He is right on the cusp of being a real factor; great communication, good focus fire, and good instincts for pushes and retreats. But then he will have moments where loses attention and focus during tight firefights, and a few sloppy or early deaths can really cost his team. The Ice that shows up kinda depends on the day, but his good days are definitely starting to outnumber his bad.
Castiel: 74
Puma is a conundrum for me. Sometimes he will go 22-4, and then for the next week he breaks even. If he will approach the game in a more consistent...frame of mind...I think Castiel can play a fantastic game. But that consistency needs to be more apparent this season if Tank is going to do anything in the playoffs.
