<span class=summary-title>Breakdown </span><br><br><span class=summary>I'm not as handsome as Mr. Demon, so I will stick to the good old fashioned text analysis.
Using the transitive property: Stiletto Nails beat No Stones by 19; No Stones beat snakes by 30, so therefore Stiletto Nails should win this by 49? Is that how it works? If only, right?
On paper, Stiletto Nails just has better fighters in my opinion. Tactical is much better than his 6-8 against No Stones would lead you to believe. Kevin & Apollo are both solid Marines. But, Stiletto Nails has Tris & Sol. You throw in kaga and Hack, and I have to give a clear edge to Stiletto Nails heading into this match regarding fighters. danny, gary, and Havok are also quite capable and I think they are a notch above the next group for snakes' Marines.
The med department is much more even with Stavudine, Mercy, and ldr being top tier Medics. Stiletto Nails has CC, Fairfax, and Jane on the other hand. I actually expected CC to Marine this season like he did last season. He was one of the leading killers for idc last season. Fairfax and Jane are both top notch Medics. CC, Sol, & Trisance would be a deadly trio of Marines with kaga & Hack being right behind them.
Demon brought up a few good points in his match preview that I will echo:
1) This is a must win for snakes. A loss will all but guarantee them 4th Seed in the playoffs. This is assuming Fwaming Dwagons takes care of business of course when they start playing the meat of their schedule. And you don't want to have to see them in the first round if you can avoid it. A loss for snakes also puts them in a must win scenario against Mean Girls & send noobs. When snakes is clicking on all cylinders, this should be doable for them. But it's hard to take anything for granted in 2018.
2) snakes has home field advantage which can be huge on Kliest's Ridge.
3) Stiletto Nails' players have a reputation for being on the quiet side. This a good mix of idc players, and from what I understand Leak & manu were the vocal ones for idc. So who will step up and be vocal and take charge for Stiletto?
I expect a much better showing this week from snakes. They got off to a bad start against No Stones, but then they started clicking. It was 27-22 around the halfway point against No Stones. Then before you knew it, it was 43-22. snakes lost the next two battles 8-0 I believe. They'll need to fix that and play more consistent.
As for Stiletto Nails, they'll need to get everyone to the match. This won't be easy. dave, Rob, kaga, and Fairfax are all focused on Forum Mafia at the moment. I hear Jane is researching Ancient Greek mythology in preparation for the next season of FM. Thankfully Bowen and CC have been knocked out. So maybe they will be able to focus.
On a more serious note though, the Stiletto/Stones match was actually closer than the 19 kill margin would lead you to believe. It was extremely close for most of the match. Stones made a few mistakes and Stiletto capitalized. They might not be as lucky this game with snakes probably being all-in on this upcoming match. But as I said above, if Stiletto Nails has their players show up, I do think they have a deeper roster fighters wise. So I will give them the edge at the moment:
