Beware the rise of CTFPL. It comes once every many moons, but is powerful enough to fade USL for weeks at a time.

Eol Advanced is the one that Minac and Ernie originally developed on SOE. BurntDevil just took the name.

Eol Advanced was developed on SOE for sure. Not sure if it was MiNaC's version though. But I definitely don't think Burnt Devil had anything to do with it, at least not while it was SOE.

Bringing eol back and tailoring it for low population would be awesome. Do some more stuff with the pirates maybe. Some zombie zone like areas with moving NPC's even?

And of course a much smaller map.

There are a lot of great ideas on this thread.

Unfortunately, almost all of these zones would require 10 players or more to be fun even with tiny maps. Right now we really don't have a big enough community to even spare 10 players and still have a USL / Skirmish pub.

I briefly described it in the original post, but one of my next focuses is to really expand AI for infantry. Right now the vision is to replicate various playstyles of the main skirmish classes with AI bots. A "Scout Bot" that throws hand grenades and rushes enemies with shotgun. A "Marine Rusher" that does similar but uses AR from a further distance. A "Marine Mid Dueler" that strafes and fires AR when reaching a mid range. A "Ripper Long Range Support" that uses a rock or so for cover while reloading and pops from behind the rock to shoot enemies when not reloading.

Right now the plan is to put together a 1-8 player Co-op gametype on the Cazzo map. You would start at the west most part of the map and have to work your way east destroying the bots in your way. By doing this, much of the code needed to introduce similar bots in any zone will be created and configurable by a complete idiot.

Introducing bots and AI is going to be the key to making some of those zone concepts mentioned in this thread playable with under 10 people so they even have a chance to build population.

Right now my focus is to build the SK community up through public zone development that way we have enough population to support a SK pub and another zone pub. I would also love to introduce some league ideas to help get new players involved in the league which will greatly help our retention of players who try the game out - but that's something to discuss closer to next season.

The catch 22 to all of this is - one of the main people we need to make any of this happen is the guy most of you just tried to lynch, Hellspawn. He did 100% of the scripting for [I:USL] The Pub / Cazzo. I have a bit of scripting experiencing but a fraction of what he has.

Like Apdo and I said the FI EOL had population throughout the day if people saw that back up and not the messed up version and with a smaller map you may just see some people come back to the game, those that don't play skirmish and those that are bored of playing skirmish only would enjoy it.

Of course when theres only SK and ZZ up a few might be in ZZ while the rest just sit afk in skirm pub waiting for it to come up or scrim.

I appreciate the focus on SK pub don't get me wrong but the only thing new would be the AI / maps that you wish to incorporate and people will only play until a scrim comes their way, I get that this is USL however im thinking more along the lines of all FI and the stagnant repetitive nature of SK and its community will see a lot of this effort likely go wasted on pub play. Better to just add variety to the pub zones, if it "diminishes" SK pub for say EOL, the people playing EOL are doing the same thing the people in spec "afking" in pub are doing.. waiting to sb.

Minac's version of EOL:A has never been live on free inf, the one that was up was BurntDevil's bastardized version of it and completely gutted the core game play that made it fun. Ace might have the original test zone files since he was one of the 4 that had access to that zone. If not I can message Minac or Bomb, they both have the zone files as they developed it

No, Burnt wasn't involved with Eol:Advanced on SOE. That was MiNaC, Tactical, Bomb, and then I showed up sort of in the 11th hour. I probably helped out most by writing the Attribute Guide.

Actually kind of like the zone for public play. Keep the classes to what the traditional USL classes are rather than bringing in more random classes. I think the zone does a good job of keeping game play fluid and fast paced while not pinning a side in their base for a prolonged time frame. (Game ends). Kudos to HS on the dev of it. I think many were irked on the implementation and forced nature of it. Nice new spin to public play.
