"And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."
Jamie didn't choke her but his hands were around her neck as they died.
Arya isn't meant to be at winterfell, not sure why you'd think that. yes she loves her family and wants to protect them but she's said countless times she doesn't want to be a lady. She even turned gendry down remember?
The wall was around for thousands of years with the night's watch before the NK attacked. Why are you not questioning why it was around before he attacked?
There might have been one person that sailed west before Arya is going to.
Duty is forcing Jon to be to the nights watch, they compromised with GW to send him there. They're not the kind of people who'd re-nig on that just because GW left.
I liked the episode but I agree, Dany's death was perfect but afterwards was a little weird. I liked Drogon carrying her off to wherever but nobody seemed too upset. There was no unsullied rebellion or Dothraki's running wild.
Bran was a smart choice from the council perspective, but didn't really make sense as far as the show goes. I get it he can see everything in the past so he can avoid making the same mistakes that previous kings had made, but he doesn't have the classic requirements of a king.
If you honestly thought Jon would be king I don't know what to tell you.

I guess we all should have in retrospect seen this show wasn't going to have the greatest of endings giving its entire conclusion boiled down to the 2 worst actors on the show doing most of the heavy lifting the final 2 seasons but the writing of those last 2 seasons certainly didn't help matters.
But really what a stupid fucking ending they spend 8 seasons fighting for a throne that unites all the kingdoms and then the north decides nah we are just gonna Brexit this shit and also oh let's just change the government to an elected monarchy. That ending only works if you shut down every rational neuron in your brain.

But why would they end with a traditional monarchy? The starks were working the whole time to make Kings Landing a better place. So you want them to just end with some monarch king without having someone elect them. Just fucking throw gendry on the throne? I'm confused on what you would have rather seen.

Because the entire premise of the show is on the pursuit and holding of power. And yet the final episode is just well I guess we won that cripple can be king but hey you guys are free to do whatever you want with your kingdoms. The emperor has no clothes. What the fuck kind of ending is that when the guy they put on the throne lets the kingdom he hailed from just go and secede. The books/show are a vague allegory to the war of the roses so end the show like that have Tyrion and Sansa jointly reign that would make far more sense then hey let's just pick this weird cripple kid who nobody really knows (Because they don't he was gone what 7/8 years without any contact with his family or anyone else vital to the main story) to rule over us.

-Sansa didn't want any part of kings landing which is why she wanted the north soverign (which it had historically always been).
-Tyrion also didn't want to be king or he would have suggested himself.
-Bran literally knows every event in Human history why would he not be fit to be king? Because nobody knows him? Everyone knew who Robin Arryn was, does that make him fit to be king?
-Breaking into 6 kingdoms is absolutely fine, it's more about sharing resources and support/protection. Why would the north need to be included to this when they can be completely self sufficient?

The problem is we all had certain expectations for whatever reasons to certain plot points. And a lot of us got the ever living shit subverted out of our expectations.
I think the books will do a better job... if this dude ever finishes them. Mainly because seasons 7 and 8 became very compact not only in time frame but also in geography and socially. 7 kingdoms, 2 continents... the last two seasons show 2 kingdoms basically and 1 continent.

The whole problem I have is they spent 6 seasons going into detail about everyone's motivations and dealings to get their chosen person on the throne. Then the last 2 seasons they threw all that nuance out the window to have a story that makes as much sense as a late 80s/early 90s Stallone or Seagal movie. It's half the problem with the show in those first 6 seasons it asks the viewers to look at people's motivations logically then it ends with a guy that nobody truly knows what his motivations are on the throne. Yes we the viewers know how great and useful Bran is but to the average Lord of Westeros what is he? A young cripple who supposedly stopped a once in a millineum terror that really just boiled down to a couple of castles being razed. I mean shit the Iron Islanders were a bigger threat to the peace of Westeros than the night king. So now I'm just supposed to buy that Bran is a decision that logically anyone in the south would sign up for? Yes in a show with dragons and magic suspension of disbelief is required but this final season especially subverted everything that made it a good show and turned it into a 8-9 hour 80s action movie. sure the visuals are great but my God what a stupid story. I'm surprised Michael Bay didn't get a credit for the final season.

The GoT series finale now has a lower rating than the finale of Dexter. I didn't think that would be possible.
