If only it was that simple. Not a single one of those countries has a population of NYC. And every single one of them either has an economy based on Oil revenues or Banking. That's the false equivalency that if we somehow took up their model of government we could replicate the results. It's real easy to have a great social welfare system when your budget has basically no defense spending, your country doesn't have the level of wealth inequality that comes with larger nations, and you have an economy that is built upon high paying jobs.

Sure we could do it in the states just slash defense spending down to around 10% of the GDP, have some sort of tax law that bars anyone from having a net wealth of over 20 times that of the average person, and also increase taxes across the board on everyone.

Good luck having that be adaptable with the general character of what makes an American an American.
