There was a lot of people voted to remove the sniper class. Everyone said it doesn't belong in usl. If anything make an sl . Go back to the basics. Otherwise these votes and poll doesn't mean anything.
What's the point of polls?

I agree. I am down to remove sniper class from the USL and leave it as a pub class.

I've mentioned it over discord and with staff members before.
I believe to change the status quo (aka current USL settings or at least long standing USL settings) , a super majority should be required.
By super majority, the poll should require 75% or greater votes in favor of the change.
I do also believe, as we can definitely thank Backs for this, that relying on votes from all players with access to accounts on uslzone.com isn't a very reliable way to get accurate feedback from the current league's participants. We all know Backs had a hand in trying to sway multiple votes this past season by trying to get his squad to vote what he asked them to do.
I believe that instead of every uslzone.com account having a vote, we should do the voting via the USL Discord server and assign a role to every player that participated in the current or previous season of USL - quite easy to do by clicking on "Database" on the left column and sorting by season. After assigning the role, only those players would have access to the poll or survey, etc. If a player refuses to join the USL discord server to participate than that is on them, we all know 95%+ of usl players use discord for squad battle communication and squad chat.
I'm all for captains and staff voting on the things like schedules for the season, roster limits, map selection, etc. But it's obvious that captains are not voting as true representatives as the interests of all their squad members. Why should squad captains have any more say so in class changes than any other player, especially a player who has much more USL experience than the captain?
I would very much like to see all players of the league, or at very least players with qualifying experience - i.e. maybe you need to prove you've played 3 seasons of USL before you can vote - having a say so in changes that directly effect every player's USL experience.

What is deadline about anyways everyone has enough time to get their squads together. Season doesn't start until the 14th. Id give it until next Monday or something so they can get their players.

Are you bad mouthing your co captain on a public forum? Lol.
So individual players shouldn’t have a voice?
You’re on strike 2.

So the tldr: you want more votes than just captains and staff... but not everyone's vote should count, just the people we see fit.... if only there were a small group of people that could represent their squads or who understood the rules better than the common player... like a squad captain or a staff member...

A penguin is having car trouble, so he takes his car to the garage. The mechanic says it'll take about an hour to check what's wrong.
The penguin sees an ice cream shop across the street, and heads over to get himself a snack while he's waiting.
It's awkward for the poor guy to eat with his flippers, and he makes a bit of a mess.
He goes back to the mechanic to find out what's wrong with the car.
Mechanic says "Looks like you blew a seal".
"Ha, no ... that's just a little ice cream".

@Bad
Captains aren't representing their squads when it comes down to class change discussion.
Staff members are also better qualified to discuss class changes and other matters because why? Wasn't Infinite a ref at one point? Point made.
Okay so captains wouldn't want the best for the squads they run?

Leaving aside the matter of Sniper for a moment and just addressing the main question in your title:
Polls are never meaningless. Even a non-binding poll has an effect. For instance, look at how many times the Sniper poll result has been cited to back up an argument.
While how polls have been treated may have varied across different compositions of the USL Staff (I don't know the history at FI), it seemed to me that we should have clarity so we published the League Admin Guidelines that sets out that a public poll will typically be non-binding and will serve as a data point for USL Staff and Squad Captains to consider.
In this case, the Sniper public poll became a significant backing for arguments about general discontent with Sniper in USL and was a support for nerfing it as voted by the Squad Captains to see if we can find a way to keep it going in USL with a less salient impact/role in squad battles and matches.
