I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to reach out to the USL community about two important updates. We will be increasing the roster limit to 15 effective immediately. Squads are formed and there are still some people on the free agents list. Hopefully this increase gets a few squads a few additional players as well as a potential increase in ctf players.
The start date date is once again revised. Season 53 of USL will begin June 15th. Now I will explain the “why” in our change. The reason for the change is that a member from CTF head staff reached out cordially and professionally about the short comings of how everything was handled and how it has affected their own league. This transparency and solution based conversation is something I do respect and welcome. Our intention by originally pushing up our start date was never to hinder CTFDL; however we needed to make USL a priority and listen to the majority of our community and captains.
In discussing mutual solutions between CTF head staff and USL head staff we were able to come to an agreement that should appease the majority of both communities. There will be no overlap within our leagues. CTF will double up on matches and finish their season earlier than anticipated on June 8th and USL will commence June 15th. This allows everyone that wants to play in both leagues the ability to do so.
While I understand this is the 3rd time we change the start date; we’ve received written commitment from CTFDL staff about a compromise in which both parties agreed. This will cultivate growth and will minimize distain between both leagues. I will also mention that Ernie did inform the captains via Discord captains channel of the start date change days ago. This is more-so confirmation for those unaware.
There will be additional posts for you all to read as the days continue to come; they will involve other updates and changes that may be coming into USL Season 53. I hope you all have a pleasant rest of your evenings.
