good guys
I posted this in Captains forums, but wanted to relay it to our community.
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to type my comments and ruling on this matter. Please excuse the delay; I was traveling for work the last couple of days, but rest assured I am now home. I did want to provide a ruling sooner rather than later and I utilized one of my Deputy admin, Bowen, to provide relief to this ordeal. Please do not ostracize or ridicule him for providing an answer when I was unable to. I will say that the decision to grant a rematch was not intended to troll a squad and their players nor was it to add additional stresses onto our community and captains alike. With the being said, I used the additional day to not only travel back home, but to analyze the situation further and take serious consideration on head staff's initial decision (I.e. Fausto, Bowen) on this appeal.
While I was reviewing game footage repeatedly and discussing it over with head staff member(s) that were not directly involved with each squad; an addendum to my the initial decision is in order. The rematch will take place; however I do not believe it is fair for Gentlemen nor Monkey Business to play an entire 30 minutes when the referee error took place at roughly 11:20 left in match regulation time. The error was in limbo for roughly 1:02 minutes and the player that was subsequently specced was brought back in at 10:18 left on the clock. I will be ruling the following: A rematch will take place, but the clock will account for map positioning and drop ship distance of where the engagement took place; The time that will be placed on this rematch will be set for 13:00 left with a score 36-14 in favor of Gentlemen. I believe this is the fairest outcome for this unfortunate situation.
My sincere apologies on behalf of staff for this error that did not benefit either squad involved. My goal in providing the additional clarity and addendum is to be as fair and impartial as possible given the circumstances of this situation. There have been extremely rude comments from various community members on how the ref made a mistake, how the head staff ruled erroneously and other concerning verbiage. I personally am not affected by it, but please show some compassion to your fellow staff members. I say this to shine light on the two captains of the squads in question; they both have been professional and understanding throughout this entire ordeal. Thank you for your leadership and commitment to using the channels (captains forums on USLZone) to voice your valid concerns on the matter(s).
House keeping items:
Pistor & Leak: Please schedule your rematch to take place prior to your Sunday match.
Stats: The staff will be working on K/D from the first encounter and this second to seamlessly account for each kill and death so they may be recorded properly on the Usl site. If we run into any issues we will work with the tools and people to mitigate potential data loss.
In closing, the head staff and I will not make everyone happy and sometimes I may make a mistake on a judgement call, but I feel this is the best action to take for this matter. The error did not benefit anyone, this is was not an error on a captain, on a player in game nor a map/glitch error. What happened was out of the control of the players on the field and for that; I appreciate your patience. I would also like to publicly thank the referee for acknowledging his mistake; it takes a true adult to admit and better themselves because of it. Everyone, please be mindful of each other and enjoy the game.
Remember:
Banter is always welcomed, but do so empathetically and not out of malice.
Thank you,
Head Staff
