Hello Everyone,
I wanted to send out a quick message on a couple of people in the league- one is pretty cut and dry and the other has some layers to it. I will start with the simple of the two cases first...
BigBird2173-
BB was found Doxxing a fellow player in the official USL Discord a few days ago. I am not ok with this and neither are majority of the people that witnessed such malice. It is one thing to "troll" and be a "nuisance" but it is another to provide City, State and name of Employer of a community member. It is not safe and it is a direct violation of both Discord and Steam's codes of conduct. We will enforce every Dox that takes place within a USL realm. The punishment is severe and does not follow just a standard silence from the Discord or game platform. I urge everyone to do better; we are all enjoying a game. Lets keep it fun and safe for everyone around.
BB will be facing a (1) season ban from USL activities. This will extend only to USL Regulation matches and playoff matches as well. BB will also be Silenced on the official USL Discord and official USLZone website and in-game for (1) offseason and season. BB will still be able to play in Mixes, squad battle during non-regulation times and participate in duels.
Backs:
I want to apologize to the community, I never officially made a post about a ban on Backs mainly due to the fact that my time was spent dealing with the USL Ordeal that unfolded last week. I will further state that I was dealing with other issues related to this "ordeal" prior to the initial Poll was put up which took up an immense amount of time. Anyways, leading into Backs. I had initially reached out to him and advise him that he would be banned From USL for Threatening a fellow player in a malicious way. I will not get into specifics of what was said, but I am sure that most of you are already aware of the makeup of that malicious interaction. This community has very thin walls, unfortunately. The initial Ban I imposed was severe and to be used as a deterrent for the future, but I changed my mind within 48 hours and reduced it to account for just Regulation play as opposed to a zone ban.
As I have reflected over the last (2) weeks, I will be reversing my ruling on this punishment and I will explain why. The infraction happened inside of a Direct message between two players; the comments were not done in a public USL setting but more so private. This virtual space was not within the confines of USL. My initial thought process when this concern was brought to my plate was a USL Player is a USL player regardless of where an issue arises. However, we have a moderator staff to handle those instances outside of USL. Furthermore, the unfortunate reality is- is that some individuals in our league are very toxic and the way some players interact on a daily basis is malicious in nature. I am not in agreement with how some of you talk to each other and/or I do not understand it nor accept it. It is very unfair for me to hold one player accountable (regardless of his prior history) when others are doing detrimental actions similar to this on a daily basis. I have witnessed others threaten each other on weekly basis in multiple and distant discords both on USL Discord, In-game and outside other Discord servers. I urge everyone to do better and interact in a more friendly and neutral position. If you decide to troll each other, do so with empathy. There is no reason to cross boundaries to try and get a rise out of one another. Please remember that this is just a video game we all enjoy in our spare time; do not be the reason someone feels unsafe or attacked. We can all do better; including myself. I will also state that backs apologized to the other player in this and made amends with each other Thank you two for being grown-ups about this. I appreciate it.
I am sure the Backs reversal will cause uproar, but that isn't my intention with this post. It is more so to show that I am not a robot nor am I punishment crazy. When I think a call I made needs revision; I will make the necessary corrections as soon as possible.
Going forward The staff will work with Captains and charter to create a table of punishment(s) that will outline the severity of infractions and what their lengths of punishment will be. We will outline a ladder setup to account for first offense, second, third and so on. I think this may serve as a deterrent going forward. I am currently posing the possibility in the Charter and league mgmt channels of creating an offender portal in both USL and Discord. One thing we haven't provided is transparency when it comes to punishments so giving the community the opportunity to just check a section in USLzone or Discord to find out current offenders may help provide answers to questions.
I would like to emphasize that both Discord and Infantry have built in Ignore functions for you to ignore any player you deem necessary. This function serves as a layer of defense against those you would rather not interact with. Please utilize when you can. You as a player also have the choice to interact on specific discords, squad chats, and arenas, if they do not align with your values please remove yourself from that environment. However, If you see serious malice taking place outside of USL please contact a Moderator; they are listed in game for your reference. If malice takes place within the USL confines and its past the usual "trolling" please report it to a USL Staff member.
Thank you to everyone- I hope this has provided clarity to a few questions I have seen come up.
