Welcome to the third installment of cooking w/ Distrikt. As the title says, I'll be doing asia aka I'll be adding the magical touch of Distrikt to an asian dish, specifically Udon noodle stir fry.

A little background: Since I work out of town a lot, I generally eat out more frequently than the average person. This gives me the opportunity to try a whole bunch of different foods whether it's Chinese or Greek or Lebanese etc etc. Usually, when I get home, I'll try to make the dish that I had and from there, I'll experiment by adding my own touches which brings me to today's dish.

Udon noodle stir fry(Distrikt style):

Ingredients/Items:

Udon noodles:

You can buy these at most asian stores, like you know that asian area near you.. just go there, find something resembling a supermarket and go to the frozen section and look for them. It may take you a while but it's worth it. I personally like udon noodles because they don't make me feel like i'm an old geyser or a baby when i eat them. like, you know when you have mashed potatoes, they're probably all soft and what not well i'm not like that. my granpa taught me a very valuable lesson when i was a young little chap, long story short he never eats completely mashed potatoes because he isnt a fucking baby. that's right, he liked having chucks of potatoe in the mashed potatoes otherwise, he wouldnt eat them. god i miss that commie bastard.

Broccoli:

I love broccoli, i can't say much else. it's one of my top 3 veggies. i got this bag from costco, easy enough.

Hot dogs:

This is one of my 2 touches that I'll be adding to the stir fry. Hot dogs are hands down one of the best things to eat in north america. Who DOESNT look having hot dogs at 3am after the club closes down, seriously... hot dogs are delicious. I got these from costco, they're actually pretty tasty, the only annoying part is each one is individually wrapped but they're better than those small ones you get at like sobeys or walmart. Btw, are hotdogs a sandwich? I wouldn't say they are but technically, its meat in between bread. hrmm, we'll discuss this after.

Diana's Sauce Original:

If you recall my original cooking w/ dist, where I made the hamburger in a hotdog bun, this was the only condiment I used. Diana's sauce is fucking goat. Hands down the best condiment for literally anything you eat, it's even better than herb and garlic cream cheese.

Vegetable medley:

I actually put this together a few nights ago, I couldnt for the life of me remember what i put in there besides salt/pepper/balsamic vinegar but it's one heck of a vegetable medley. I can eat this simply as a salad or fry it up.

Canola Oil:

I bought this at wholesale food warehouse and you need it to boil the udon.

Cooking instructions:

Alright, so for starters, you need to get a pot and boil some water. Max that fucking stove out and lets get this program going. Just before the water starts to bubble, throw in a bit of salt/pepper and roughly a table spoon of canola oil. Once it's boiling, pull the udon noodles out of the freezer and throw it in, it will look like this:

Now, youre ONLY going to boil the udon noodles for a max of 2 mins so in the mean time, get the strainer out and prepare a container of cold water, you will be throwing the udon noodles into the cold water once you strain them. Don't ask me why you do this but some chef at a camp told me to do this, he was asian and i trust him.

so 2 mins go by, now you need to be very quick here, strain the noodles and then put them in the cold water. you'll notice the canola oil is still all over them and this is going to be a bad thing in the next 5 mins, ill explain once we get there.

Now while you fire up your Omelet Grill(TM), get your hot dogs out and throw them in some boiling water. I like boiling my hot dogs before I fry/bbq them, don't ask why but they just get a bit bigger and you don't have to bbq them for as long. I prefer the texture this way.

At this point, you have your hot dogs boiling(that will take about 3-5 mins) so lets get the stir fry going, btw, i used margarine on my grill before throwing any noodles/veggies on. margarine ftw. the first thing i put on was the vegetable medley and then followed by the udon noodles.

Then you put on the goat of sauces, diana's sauce. just splatter that shit all over the veggies and udon noodles. this sauce will just blow your mind, its fucking delicious. i'd say use about 1/4 of the bottle for this initial application. there is ONE draw back to using diana's sauce on this grill, the shit starts to pop up and splatter all over, don't be as stupid as me and do this w/ only a wife beater on, i caught a few on my arms and it hurt. safety first, long sleeve shirt and jeans and probably a pair of osha approve safety googles.

Strain your hotdogs and let them sit on a plate for roughly 1 minute, don't ask why. just do it.

While your hotdogs cool down a bit, put the broccoli on the grill. if you like broccoli as much as i do, put on as much as you want or as much as your grill can fit.

once youre done w/ the broccoli, cut the hot dogs up into smaller bits, roughly an inch wide. then throw them on the grill w/ the rest of the food.

now for the final step, put on even more dianas sauce, you can never ever have enough dianas sauce, i really wonder why no asian puts this beautiful sauce on their stir fry... now keep stirring this wonderful stir fry for approx 10 min at 250f. btw, im serious about long sleeves shirt/jeans, i got burned again.... fml

and thats how you do asia, distrikt style.
