Anyways, when you have a mess of people breaking multiple rules and spec timers on 3-4 players at a time, simply because they are incompetent, expect some back lash when you ask for a camp timer.

Regardless of all the trolling - I think it’s a reasonable ask to have certain things commented in *arena text as a continuous improvement effort of the league (which I believe is the spirit of Emp’s request). I don’t see anything “wrong” with the communication during last night’s match as there was plenty of back and forth discussion in the captains chat leading up to the chaos.

Ultimately our own fault. We had an issue a few weeks ago with the Rape Lines. Thought everyone knew to avoid them this time around.

But ya. Just making an honest request. We can completely ignore last night for this discussion. I'm not blaming it at all on this. I cannot stress this enough. This is in no way me going "we could have won!" I'm being honest. We lost. We made the mistakes.

This is just something I noticed. Something I assumed was an easy fix. I even saw Zeus's message before I went to sleep thinking this wouldn't be an issue and that using *arena more often wouldn't be a big deal. Woke up to everyone else jumping down my throat except Mizz I guess.

Emp is being completely reasonable asking for *arena announcements. Captains should do a better job of communicating with their teams and frequently checking chat for updates, but it doesnt always happen.

It's up to whoever is reffing imo. It doesn't really matter how it's being delivered so long as the captains get the memo, which they did. I'm sorry yours didn't relay it, or maybe they did and you chose to ignore it, whatever it is, is irrelevant. If I'm reffing as long as the captains acknowledge what I'm saying to them, it's up to them to decide on how they proceed. It's not an issue, and no other squad would make it one and hasn't made it one so I don't understand why you are.

Our Captains claimed to not be aware of the turtle timer. (I am not referring to the rule, I am referring to the fact that one had begun.) I've said this a few times now. Do you have a log where they supposedly acknowledged this?

I find it hard to believe they would acknowledge my comment where I said something to the effect of "well at least the turtle timer hasn't started" even though they supposedly knew a turtle timer was active. And they were asking me why I specced. I had to explain to them that someone else specced me.

So they are either the greatest voice actors ever or they genuinely did not see the attempts you guys supposedly made to tell them about a turtle timer being active. I'm leaning towards the 2nd one as you can tell. But I guess I could be wrong obviously.

I know I remember *arena being common and used a lot back when I played in USL. And I was a CTFPL Admin and a SL Ref. We also used *arena frequently.

Since I've been back to USL on FI *arena messages are uncommon, but you sir are not going crazy. I also remember doing frequent *arena messages in SL or USL when reffing, and Im still in the habit of doing so if you were in the arena for the match I reffed.

But like Champ and I both said moving forward it should not be hard to type *arena and give a message, and I know you aren't claiming for a ref error or anything of that nature but to reiterate what's been said in regards to players being specced or the camp timer, that falls on your captains which both squads had 2 players in chat. If I can read capts chat while leading they certainly can read it while camping right outside the DS doors.

Unfortunately the tickers are coded differently than what Sony had. There may even be another packet that we just don't know about. What I can do if you guys don't mind is making a command that only deals with the game timer then timer is regular old way again.

That would be pretty nice. Having separate timers would help keep track of rule violations and stuff.

Btw the client only allows 4 custom tickets so during game play, something might be missing while a ticker is going off(probably personal score).

Took about 10 seconds to find a video from THIS SEASON where *arena's are used to notify of everything from game start to substitutions. You really like to talk out of your ass, don't you?
