Spec ops first impressions since it was played last night.
Everything about this class is really strong, the pub game turned into needing this or get 2 shot by the be or throwing knife.
If accepted as is should be max 1 per team.
But the class is really bad as is, one throwing knife does more than a full shotgun regardless of how close you are and where it hits.
To make this make sense make combat knife 1 shot and throwing knife than will be more accurate. Sounds too op? Than make throwing knife so like 20-25 hp tops that’s already equal to getting shot with twice but an assault rifle with a half damage Nerf lol
Also it has no min range. How could anyone throw a knife if he’s hugging you?
The battle riffle can shoot 30 bullets by the time lmg can shoot 16 bullets
Meaning you can kill 8 people without missing on the battle riddle and just about 2 without missing in the same time with the lmg gun( not even marine )
Maybe if we can slow down the shooting speed or spread out the bullets / shorten the range.
Some of these steps might make it viable because at the moment you’re stupid to not play this and use any other class except medic with it

I was actually thinking of getting rid of the 3 burst aspect and making it more SKish again and more like the default infantry BR from NML / Mech when you had to play infantry until 5k experience.

Also will definitely look into nerfing the throwing knife damage, the idea originally was to have the throwing knife do 5-10 less damage than a SG

Give nader bouncy grenades similar to the ones in CTF.. allows you to bounce them off of walls and around corners, could probably break camps easier.
Spec ops way too OP in every aspect. Battle Rifle does more dmg than AR regardless if it was burst or not and throwing knives do way too much dmg. Nerf the damage, or make them 1 shot kills but only give 3 similar to hand grenadies.

Give Sapper haywire grenades and other specialist nades. Revert nader GL changes from last season. Don't mind bouncing GL for naders or a decent mid range gun that contribute in fights that aren't close range. Give back the buffs to ripper/AT before they were reverted from last preseason. Replace LMG with machinegunner from CC and adjust the numbers if it's overwhelming.
Reduce BR dmg for spec ops, and throwing knife should be designed to have some effect instead of raw damage. Maybe a bleed like incendiary grenade or a slow.

Lot of good ideas imo. Bounce nades are a great idea. I agree with Apollo that it may help break camps. It may encourage camping in buildings more often also, but I like the idea. Giving nader throwing knife is a good one too.
Possibly give nader a reduced range (maybe reduced damage too?) old-style Battle Rifle to make them a little more viable for squads. If they get this, they should not get throwing knife also.
Sov, good ideas. I'm curious to see how Machinegunner would be in USL. The idea of Spec Ops with condition-modifying nades would be pretty interesting to see as well.
I think it's a better idea to beef/change classes, rather than weaken marine to bring some spice to the league.

I would think if Grenadier can bounce their 40s off of walls being in a building is the last place you would want to be, but i'm not sure.
Doesn't nader right now currently have a desert eagle, while slow, do a shit ton of damage?

I thought nader only had the shotgun explosive and deagle was taken away? Been a while since I actually played it.
Also, I meant camping as with a nader or two in buildings. Of course, the assaulting team can always go nader(s) in an attempt to break it too.

I can't remember. I liked it better when it had SG. Bouncy nades should help with it having more range, rather than the shotgun explosive or the deagle. imo
