I was kinda brainstorming earlier, wondering how we could get more people to play Infantry in a Steam-dominated gaming environment.
I noticed that other people have had a lot of success with social media campaigns and group activism. Wondered if maybe that was something the USL community could consider.
My thought - maybe we designate a date - 4/20 for example - for all of us to spread a single media article promoting Infantry as a "throwback game" for hardcore pc gamers who like multiplayer strategy games.
I know I'd be willing to work on the wording of a document, and if I could get some help, I bet we could polish into into something unique and appealing to fans of traditional pc gaming, especially if we could get some guys who knows visuals to help.
We could link it as a page on uslzone.com, along with a video - cut from all the various games we've recorded so far - as a promotional advertisement for both USL and Infantry together.
Ideally 60-70 of us get together for a two-hour period and just go ham on the internet, putting the link to the article, or the full pdf if allowed, all over the place. On every gaming website, forum, niche hangout we can find. Facebook/Twitter/Reddit/Steam/Instagram/etc etc etc.
For the next week or so after we release the info, we have 5-6 guys on a rotational basis who are online, willing to welcome new players and teach them the basics. An Infantry boot-camp if you will.
Obviously we will probably lose more than half of any new players we bring in - this game isn't for the faint of heart - but we might be able to add a new squad's worth of players to the dying ranks, which would be just the adrenaline shot this league needs (along with some rule changes).
Let me know your thoughts - even if you think it a complete dumpster fire of an idea. I just want your input. Unless you are Vince Carter. In which case go away, this project is not for you.
