Deadline to register your squad for Season 17 is February 10th. This is to make sure there is time for squads to agree to a time for their Week 1 matches.

Also, I thought I should ask the community, are there any rules that are confusing to anyone that could maybe use further explanation or rewording? I was looking over the rules, and the only one that I think I see that could use maybe a bit more explaining was the Camping/Turtling rule. So I'll try to add a bit more explanation to that part of the rules. Any others though?

Also, I was thinking of adding something to kind of deter squads from trying to run and hide in the final minutes of a close match. Specifically, after the Rape Lines are voided @ the 28 minute mark, either squad could ask the referee for their opponent's coordinates.

I'll put up a poll. Let me know what you think.

Let the public speak at the 2 min mark. Allow them to make fun of the winning camping team and yell at coords. Will atleast give spec some fun while watching :D

That might result in some unwanted shenanigans unfortunately ;)

Blame the team for trying to camp with the lead -_-

I think the main thing that needs clarification is the Camp Timer. Not just the rules, but how to enforce it, and when.

Does the Captain call the Camp Timer in the Match Chat chat, and the Ref grants the timer to the Captain? Seen this often. And usually, even if both teams are camping, only the team that had the Captain type in the Match Chat is awarded the timer.

Does the Ref start the Camp Timer on their own if they see camping? Does this include if they see both teams holding in separate areas waiting?

Does the Camp Timer automatically get removed if bullets are exchanged, otherwise known as "engangement". I thought this was a no-brainer "yes", but apparently there was a lot of argument against this at the end of last season. Perhaps need to write it out, because some people don't seem to make the logical leap that engaging in battle is the opposite of camping

I plan to address all of those points actually!

Going to write some stuff out, run it by the staff. Hopefully there will be no confusion on those points moving forward.

I have one other issue with the rules right now. The appeal rules.

I think the requirement of having the captain of the squad type their intent to appeal, and the reason in the match chat to be a terrible idea, and it puts too much pressure on the captain. Oftentimes, it's not clear exactly what happened until you have a chance to talk to your squadmates, review video footage, review chat logs, etc. to gather evidence that a mistake by the league was made. A captain may not have any idea whether or not they have a valid appeal right when the game ends - most squads are trying to focus on finishing the game out, not on diagnosing whatever shenanigans happened during the match.

I strongly recommend removing the requirement of stating your appeal in match chat right after game ends. There is a full week between matches, and the Captain's Forum is a much better platform for discourse. For timely evidence submission and decisions, just put a requirement that all appeals be filed by Monday at 11:59pm (over 24 hours from the original match).

Poll
Poll #94:

Allow squads to get their opponent's location in the final minutes of a close match?

Maybe if they got camp timer'd 2 or more times during the match

Poll is random tbh. The issue is not finding x squad in the last moments of the game. It's that squads are avoiding others when they are down or you can't break stalemates due to bad maps. This doesn't really solve anything that is an issue. I can't recall a squad not being able to find another squad in the last minutes of the game.

Not much I can do in regards to maps. Definitely not for Season 17. I'm going to fiddle with the decompiler some and see if I can maybe tweak some for S18. But no guarantee even then I make good edits.

This was just a thought I had when re-reading the rules over the weekend.

I have noticed in some of the few close matches over the last few seasons, the squad with the lead will try to run and hide. This was just a small suggestion to try to deter it. It would ideally guarantee the losing squad at least one more shot at a battle to see what they could do.

Perhaps use a rule like this for playoff matches only.

Yea what dead says is probably more applicable because you can add better camping rules to enforce fighting/increase pace of the game while not punishing other squads that rely on avoiding fights/camping in obscure spots to win battles.

What about Rend's suggestion?

Ref only does it if a squad has been warned multiple times earlier in the match?

@emp

r's suggestion is a good one as well, but I also feel should only be implemented during playoffs. Some lower tier squads depend on the camp timer to keep deaths low. It would suck if the big dicks get the location of their opponent when they don't really need it.

This post ignores two restrictions that I already stated

1. End of match
2. Close matches

Weaker squads trying to not get out killed by 50 (or even 20+ for that matter) wouldn't even be in the scope of this rule suggestion

I think I glazed over the "close game" part.

That being said, your original idea would work best and again should just be a playoffs implementation.

Has there been any severe violation of the camp timer during the regular season that would necessitate this rule?

And let's say it's the final two minutes and the winning squad is spread into main, flank and solo, which location do you give?
E
OP
Ref could theoretically announce "Cervesa at B2 & C4" assuming it's under 2 minutes and the match is "close"

Either way though, I would have wanted a decisive vote in favor of such a rule change. Even if every remaining player voted for it, I don't think we'd hit that kind of margin.
