Let's just run a format similar to gamebattles. Challenges instead of pre-made schedules. 2 month seasons. Then run a bracket style playoffs based on points accumulated during the season. (top 4 squads)

This would allow lower tier squads to pick and choose how hard of a challenge they want. Obviously award less points for a win over a lower tier squad than a higher tier. (incentive)

This is the kind of brainstorming that is in the spirit of my posts. I'm not trying to force any solution down anybodies' throats. But floating multiple ideas that could potentially IMPROVE the league is exactly what Demon was prompting with this post. There is never going to be a way to FIX the league, but making it better every chance that we can is ideal.

The refs recently acquired are active. I know for a fact that Pant has no life and is always on. Demon/Emp are on all the time as well.

All of the currently stacked players offering zero ideas, suggestions, or even responding to Demon's posts, just derailing and shitting on everyone else.

Most of the players on lower tier squad just isn’t try hard enough. They rather play a weaker class like sniper or ripper when down instead of trying to find ways to climb back up. They don’t play pub to improve their position or just suicide all game.

Also the leadership department on lower tier squads is very lacking. I joined Hedchottas looking to help backs this season but most of the time he would rather snipe and “have fun” instead of legit trying to improve on his marine skills and positioning. I have seen countless times that the players from lower tiers squads just run around like chickens with their heads cut off and die randomly to shit. Are they trying to improve? Idk. Do they care enough? Probably not.

Draft league is going to suck, SL had difficulties from players not showing up to matches. I also didn’t enjoy the lack of committment from a draft team mindset either.

Leadership and a desire to win (try hard) are what separates the good squads from the bad. Thats what makes Nwa and idc so good, they try harder and have better leaders. Its frustrating when you are on a lower tier squad trying to win while your teammates are just fucking around.

Mad props to MG though, they are the only squad that is actively improving and keeping this shit league alive on a daily basis.

Last season was very competitive imo. BBB, Wah, idc, and even Apoc all seemed like they could have won imo.

This season was determined Day 1 on the other hand who would be in the Championship (barring some kind of miracle or disaster mind you). idc probably got better. NWA was some of the best of Wah/BBB. So 2 competitive squads instead became 1 there.

TCT never really scared anyone like Apoc could have imo. Maybe they can still surprise us though.

A draft league probably won't work tbh. I didn't consider the SL Draft League a success. Did ya'll? There were so many no shows... every team using NTs for every match. It was just a 3 week mini season too.

I agree with the sentiment that there are just some players who don't give a shit about improving. I've played with basically everyone there is on FI at this point, and you can almost immediately tell which players legit care about getting better and which ones would rather complain and not work on everything they are doing wrong. To the ignorant players, there's nothing we can do to help them unless they acknowledge it themselves. Even if we do salary again, they're going to find a way to complain instead of keeping their head down and improving.

That said, there are a handful of low-tier players that are genuinely trying to get good and break into top squads. I wouldn't be opposed to having some "Apprenticeship" rule, where top squads need to fill 3 of their roster spots with low-tier players. Idk the specifics of how that would work just yet, but just something to consider. I feel like that might be a good way to kinda balance salary & FFA.

I know that my position as captain of idc colors my comment, but I was also a major supporter of salary cap.

Salary cap could work, but like Mecca said, it will need to be better than last time. We would need to work on it during this next season and really put thought and work into it. But I don't think salary cap is the answer.

I like the idea of an apprenticeship for the top squads, though the enforcement would be messy. I'm not the most particular when it comes to refusing to play with anyone on FI, but I've played with a lot of these guys for many seasons now. I enjoy the commaraderie and teamwork that we've built. Punishing a squad and forcing them to break up after they've put in the time to build chemistry and find balance is wrong.

I don't know a solution, but I'm open to ideas.

But, I'd rather play on a 1-5 squad than bench on a 5-1 squad.

Winning is fun and all. But I'm in my 30s now. I got all my imaginary championships in my teens that I could want from this game. Now I'm just looking to log on a few nights a week and hopefully play some.

Just my 2 cents on that potential idea from my point of view.
